As part of the state’s Education Edge program, each year the Rutherford County Job Shadow Day allows high school seniors to spend one school day learning about careers of their interest by shadowing at a Middle Tennessee business of their choice. The day takes place during normal school hours or hours agreed upon by the participating students and their business hosts. Students may arrange to shadow any local employer they choose, and BEP organizes student registration for the five largest companies in the county: Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, StoneCrest Medical Center, Nissan, Bridgestone, and Murfreesboro Medical Clinic.
The purpose of this day is to provide the opportunity for students to shadow professionals in careers that they are interested in pursuing. This opportunity allows the students to develop a clear understanding of the link between learning and earning, education and employment, and school and success.
This year the Rutherford County Job Shadow Day is March 21, 2017.
